Making a move to the Ajax Ontario Canada area could be a something worth looking into. You will need to look at the housing market and the Area itself. The housing market is an incredible buyers' market at this time however let's concentrate on the town of Ajax first.

Ajax Ontario is located in the Golden Horseshoe in Southern Ontario, Canada between the towns of Markham and Whitby. The town has a population of approximately 90,000 and is just 15 minutes east of the biggest city in Canada, Toronto. Ajax is actually considered to be part of the Greater Toronto Area, also known as the GTA. Many do not know that the inception of the town of Ajax was actually due to a company that put up their plant in this area and the town basically grew around that plant. The company was called Defence Industries Limited. The company shut down in 1945 but the town of Ajax still remains.

Many people live in Ajax and work in Toronto; commuting daily from their home in Ajax to their career in Toronto. The trip to downtown Toronto is a 30 minute drive from Ajax. Ajax has been called a bedroom community to Toronto because of how common it is for people living in Ajax to commute. Most of the Ajax consists of single family residences and its downtown is constantly being developed and revitalized.

The town of Ajax is becoming increasingly more diverse as well as many young ethnic professionals are moving into the town and working in Toronto. The jobs in Toronto are appealing to these young ethnic professionals and at the same time the allure of Ajax is intriguing.

 

 

Contributing to the economy and employment in Ajax are many different companies and industries. In 1949 Dowty Aerospace opened a plant in Ajax thus employing many of the local townspeople. Since 1991 major employers such as Volkswagon Canada, AEG Bayly Engineering, DuPont, Ajax Textile and Paintplas have come in and increased employment rates dramatically.

The economy in Ajax Ontario has greatly improved since the recession of the early 1980s. Since that time, residential development in Ajax has increased, as well as shopping, retail and commercial space. There are residential developments going up throughout the town as well as mini-malls, boutiques, restaurants and many other commercial and retail ventures. Amid all of this development the prices are being maintained as affordable and despite all the developing the housing market in Ajax is still very much a buyers' market.

Ajax has an exemplary school system as well. There are two Catholic high schools and three public schools. The town is also home to two minor league teams. For minor league baseball they have the Ajax Spartans and for minor league hockey they have the Ajax Knights.

Ajax has merged with Scarborough to form the state of the art health system of Rouge Valley Health System as well as merged with Pickering to form the Durham Regional Police Department. These mergers provide the best of care and response to the residents of both towns while keeping tax dollars and costs to the citizens lower. Firefighting services are provided by three different fire stations from around the area to the citizens of Ajax.
